Act I, Scene I: Arrival
In which our hero finds himself in a strange and wondrous land.
Happy Birthday to me.
Today marks the official end of one week of my journey into art classes and one year of my journey into life.
We're beginning our ascent nice and gently with an introduction to Digital Photography and Video Production—the studies of making cool images and making cool images that move, respectively. Admittedly not much happened these first two days. As time goes on I'll most likely end up using this blog as a journal of progress for various projects instead of just Diary of a Wimpy College Student, but for now we're still finding our footing.
What I can say is that it doesn't look like the Video Production curriculum will be particularly favorable to this "future maker of funny projects". Expect to hear about four pieces over the next four months—a rescored movie scene, an instructional video, an audio-synced animation, and an interview—for none of which it is expected nor desired that I put my signature wit and charm to use. So naturally that means I'm going to do it harder.
My first impression from this week is that it looks like this term will be doing exactly what I'd hoped it would for me. I already had my eyes opened to a couple of local professional opportunities that I didn't know existed three days ago, and generally felt like I was absorbing practical, necessary information. In other words, I actually feel like I'm going to school. Of course, it's too soon to call it, but I remain optimistic.
I'm not gonna make this post any longer than it needs to be. Still just chugging along, letting things bloom. I got the comments sorted out so anyone should be able to leave notes now, which was unfortunate for the debut post. Anyway, I'm off to go celebrate being old. I'll catch you back here next week.
And always remember to be safe and wash your hands.
